Be in-the-know, get involved, get to know someone with autism.

In celebration of Autism Awareness month, Autism Society of America sponsors an essay writing contest. An excerpt of the entry I submitted is posted here. Not so much for winning but more on expressing my thoughts and sharing it with another mom who may be in the same boat. Its nothing to be ashamed of but rather, embrace with open mind and strive to reach for the cure.

There are lots of ways you can help raise awareness!

Ask organizations to send you flyers and brochures that you can distribute to friends, families and willing establishments.

Ask your Local Library to display books on Autism or hold a “Pajama Time for Autism”

Deck your vehicle with the Autism Awareness Puzzle magnets and decals

Gear up with Autism t-shirts, buttons, pins or bracelets!
